Our Story
Don Jones (1972-2021) longed to open his own tavern, after years of running someone else’s place. A place where friends and neighbors could relax and unwind with a beer, some tasty faire, and catch the game of the season. The dream became a reality on December 31, 2014 and Don was nearly a
constant presence until he began an 11 month battle with pancreatic cancer in 2020.
With his passing in 2021 his widow, Rachel, stepped in as guardian of his legacy and is proud
of the McKay’s family she has assembled to operate the day to day. In March of 2025 she petitioned to change the liquor licensing to restaurant so that teens and young adults under 21 could also enjoy a meet up with friends and enjoy some of our tasty wings.
Why the name DR. McKay’s? It’s definitely been a popular question over the years. Ask anyone in the family and they will be glad to tell you the secret…
